A strong pedigree in Surveillance Gateway interfacesFor nearly two decades, Sunhillo has been deploying data communications gateway solutions for civil aviation authorities and national defense organizations across the globe. We are currently a sub-contractor on the ITT Prime team deploying ADS-B the FAA. Next Generation technologies
The global advancement of Next Generation air traffic surveillance systems is unstoppable. In December of 2008, ITT Corporation and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) declared In-Service Decision (ISD) for the initial deployment of Automatic Dependent Surveillance & Broadcast (ADS-B) broadcast services system in southern Florida. ADS-B is a key component of the FAA’s Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen) intended to increase safety and efficiency to meet the growing needs of air transportation. Achievement of this major milestone clears the way for national deployment of broadcast services, scheduled for completion by 2013. Sunhillo Corporation is a proud member of the ITT team and an integral provider of software, hardware and engineering services. The essential services ISD milestone recognizes the FAA’s successful completion of a systematic and exhaustive validation of the ADS-B essential services deployed by the ITT team. This validation confirms that the services meet all operational, functional, and performance requirements, are safe and secure, and are supportable as a part of the United States' National Airspace System (NAS). Sunhillo is now diligently working towards deployment of broadcast services for 19 en route service volumes and deployment of surveillance services to key sites, including Louisville, Ky., Philadelphia, the Gulf of Mexico, and Juneau, Alaska.
New tools needed to verify and validate NextGen and future technologies
New tools, equipment and testing scenarios are required to support the next generation of surveillance infrastructure. The technologies used in existing legacy surveillance system are several generations old, and the tools utilized to monitor and maintain these networks are inadequate to address modern, next generation IP-based network infrastructure. The critical nature of surveillance data requires a rigorous testing and validation process coupled with new techniques and tools to perform system certification, training, support, and validation. Sunhillo Corporation has designed a complete suite of software tools to address this critical need. These tools provide system loading, error injection, the capability to introduce delays, and to test system redundancy and resiliency to prescribed errors and test cases. These advanced software tools integrate seamlessly into the existing network infrastructure supporting the design, development and subsystem validation as well as real-time traffic generation during system testing and verification.
