Founded in 1991 as Digital Systems Corporation, Sunhillo established itself as a leading provider of critical technologies and components for air traffic control systems in the U.S., the United Kingdom and Taiwan. The company has become the FAA’s sole source provider of data communications gateways and support on four of the top 10 most significant upgrades to the U.S. air traffic control system, -- the En Route Communications Gateway (ECG), En Route Automation Modernization (ERAM) and the Advanced Technologies and Oceanic Procedures (ATOP). In addition, Sunhillo has broadened its product offerings and customer base by creating cost-effective, off-the-shelf software and firmware which enable the latest applications to interface with IBM/Unix processors
Sunhillo customer base includes many of the world’s leading technology companies, including IBM, ITT, Nothrup Grumman, Lockheed Martin and Raytheon, as well as the United States Air Force, the U.S. Navy, and commercial customers in the transportation and financial services industries.

The company’s business encompasses the complete design, development, manufacture and deployment of interoperability and legacy system integration technologies and applications, including:
- Participation as a technology team sub-contractor for major FAA projects and programs: Here, Sunhillo offers primary contractors and leading technology companies with customized conversion, emulation and encryption solutions to complex interoperability challenges
- Design and manufacture of its own line of data conversion and gateway cards and sub-systems: These include its flagship Radar Interface and Conversion item (RICI), its Data Communications Gateway (DCG) for LAN/serial and data format conversion and mainframe emulation platforms.
- Rack system and sub-system design, integration and assembly: Sunhillo, with its concept-to-deployment capabilities, is a preferred out-source solution for turnkey interoperability sub-systems. These include EMI cabinets, COTS hardware and component fabrication.
- On-site engineering services and engineering maintenance personnel: As a provider of field support directly to the FAA, Sunhillo expertise is available to support its own products and installations, and to provide engineering support.
- Development of toolset and test platforms for rapid development and deployment of datacom applications: This includes Sunhillo’s Surveillance Generator & Analysis Tool (SGAT) Suite, which emulates surveillance data to accelerate the development and testing of Automatic Dependence Surveillance - Broadcast (ADS-B) and System Wide Information Management (SWIM) applications.
