ADS-B Solutions

Receive Mission-Critical ADS-B Data for your Operation
Sunhillo has deployed ADS-B Receivers to every branch of the US Military, multiple UAS operations, wind farms, and the aviation industry across the globe.

Sunhillo’s ADS-B solutions include:

  • Ground based ADS-B Receiver for Aviation and UAS operations
    • Sunhillo’s ADS-B Receivers consist of two different formats providing the same 200 miles of ADS-B coverage.
      • Margate II ADS-B Receiver: compact stand-alone receiver
      • Longport ADS-B Receiver Module: module that adds ADS-B to the Longport to combine radar and ADS-B in one unit
  • ADS-B Situational Awareness Display
      • Sunhillo’s SMS displays Radar & ADS-B utilizing a highly configurable interface with visual and audible alerts
  • Confirm the Accuracy of Radar
    • Using ADS-B operators are able to confirm the accuracy of the radars and provide a backup sensor for an extra layer of safety
  • DC Powered ADS-B Receivers for Mobile Vehicles
    • The Sunhillo Margate II has a DC version that the US Military is deploying on small all-terrain vehicles
  • Wind Farms
    • Wind farms are the latest industry to utilize ADS-B. Wind farms can cause interference to traditional radar where ADS-B is not effected.  Some wind farms are utilizing ADS-B to activate the aircraft safety lighting only when an aircraft is approaching limiting the light pollution emitted for local towns.

Sunhillo’s ADS-B products are developed to meet or exceed the DO 260B and DO-282 Standards creating a reliable and trusted ADS-B receiver that has been adopted by the US Military across the branches.  With a range of over 200 miles and user intuitive interface Sunhillo’s ADS-B Receivers are the ideal solution to pair with radar for situational awareness of aircraft.

ADS-B CONOPS Detail

Sunhillo’s ADS-B Solution brings in data from all ADS-B equipped aircraft and provides fusion from overlapping sensors and display for situational awareness.

In the ground-based ADS-B CONOPS this operation is utilizing multiple ADS-B receivers with mounted antennas and the Sunhillo Surveillance Monitoring System (SMS) display to set up a situational awareness picture for a local UAS flight mission.  Since the ADS-B sensors in this scenario have overlapping target areas Sunhillo’s Multi-Track fuser is used to select the best track and declutter the display. The RPIC can now fly safely with the live ADS-B targets on the display showing the crewed aircraft in the area.  Utilizing physical ADS-B receivers vs feeds from the internet is critical for safety as missions can be compromised if the internet goes down or the website crashes in addition when flying in remote areas cell coverage may not be available.

ADS-B: Sunhillo’s Longport and Margate II ADS-B Receivers accept and decode 978 MHz UAT and 1090ES ADS-B data transmitted by aircraft via a directly connected antenna and cable and can be sent to a surveillance display like the Sunhillo SMS or to the Sunhillo Brigantine for Multi-track Fusion.  Outputs include a variety of destinations and formats including ASTERIX CAT021 and FAA CAT033 over ethernet.

Multi-Track Fusion: The Brigantine SGP’s SureLine Software processes multiple tracks from radar and ADS-B and utilizes the Multi-Track Fusion software which selects the best one for display minimizing screen clutter on the surveillance display

Surveillance Display: Sunhillo Surveillance Monitoring System (SMS) can receive and display Radar and ADS-B tracks on one screen. The SMS is highly configurable with geographic filtering and alerts providing a proven, off-internet, DoD deployed surveillance display.
